Today, I have a special treat for my readers, an interview with Rebecca from eBook Fling. If you’ve yet to hear of this cool service/company – essentially it’s a marketplace where Kindle and Nook owners can list and lend their ebook titles – for free. It’s all the rage now as more and more people adapt to digital reading and ebook readers. The cool thing about being able to lend out your various ebook titles is that you can then get some new titles in return. For free. It’s kind of like swap trading for the digital book world.
1. How did you get involved with eBook Fling? And how long have you been with them? eBook Fling was just born this spring. I joined the company in April when the CTO Nick Ruffilo, who I’ve known for several years, recommended me to be the social media manager.
2. Can you briefly tell us what eBook Fling is all about, and why my readers should care? eBookFling is about connecting people who love books and providing them with one more way to discover and read ebooks. We’re the only ebook lending service that offers both Nook and Kindle lending, and we’re the only one to offer instant downloads for some ebooks.
3. What is the cost for eBook Fling? It’s free! There is no cost to join eBookFling. Members earn credits for sharing (“flinging”) their lendable ebooks with other users, and they use those credits to borrow books. Members can also purchase credits for $2.99 each.
4. Care to share some notable flings? Available flings—and lendable titles—are always changing! The really notable thing is the variety of books our diverse community reads and shares.
5. Any new or upcoming plans for your service? We’re working on an eBookFling app and a blog, and we have a few super Top Secret projects in the works that we’re not quite ready to talk about.
I’ve seen many ebook reader owners mention that they wish they could lend their books to friends and or relatives, along with being able to go to a place where they can share and or trade free ebooks. Well, eBook Fling is the answer to all of these wishes.
It’s a simple (and overdue) concept. Load your ebook reader of choice with your favorite titles, then share as you would normally with physical books. Very cool idea and apparently I’m not the only one who feels this way, eBook Fling has grown leaps and bounds since it opened its doors, not too long ago.
*Thank you Rebecca for taking the time to send me this interview and let my readers know about your cool service.
Cheers,
Greg
